We will kick-off the weekend on Friday evening with an elegant VIP Welcome Reception at PEJU Winery. Relax, mix and mingle with Rutherford’s winegrowers, winemakers, and vintners while you enjoy premier Rutherford Appellation Cabernet Sauvignons, appetizers created specifically for the evening by PEJU’s Chef Alex. See artist Penelope Moore “paint the wine” and bid in the silent auctionfor winery experiences and Rutherford Appellation wines, including large format bottles!

On Saturday, start the day with in-depth wine seminars at select Rutherford Appellation wineries. Discover more about Rutherford’s unique terroir while enjoying vineyard tours, wine tasting, and conversing with winegrowers and winemakers. Two time blocks:

Rutherford Round-Up


Kick Up Some Rutherford Dust at the Round-Up

You won’t want to miss the Rutherford Round-up on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Foley Johnson Winery in Rutherford! From 1-4pm you’ll taste the wines of 15 – 20 Rutherford wineries, enjoy the harmonic, boot-stompin’ music of Bootleg Honey, watch a live wine barrel making demonstration, and see art made before your eyes by local painter, Penelope Moore! If you’re feeling peckish during all this fun, you can stroll over to the Foodie Farmhouse food truck to purchase the delicious offerings made from a combination of local, seasonal, and organic sources.

Educational Seminars

Choose two seminars to attend on Saturday morning. Space is extremely limited.

SATURDAY, 9:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Hosted by Growers of the Year Davie Piña & Frank Leeds, you will begin at Frog’s Leap Winery and ride through the vineyards along the Rutherford stretch of the Napa River in the Wagdola (wagon + gondola). Taste wines made from the vineyards that you are exploring and hear about their in individual viticultural philosophies and practices, and learn more about the 13-year river restoration program undertaken by the Rutherford Dust Society. (Limited to 16 participants)
Here is your chance to become the winemaker for a day at Beaulieu Vineyard. You will be given the components of their world famous Tapestry Reserve, and with expert guidance,
you will blend your own special version. You’ll will work with Cabernet Sauvignon from two AVA’s, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc and learn how the different grapes work in harmony to create an amazing Bordeaux style blend. (Limited to 12 participants)
Provenance Vineyards is offering a truly unique tasting for the Rutherford Wine Experience, pulling rare vintages from their library of Provenance Vineyards Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, Provenance Vineyards To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and the rare Hewitt Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford. You don’t want to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity! (Limited to 12 participants)
You will begin with a brief vineyard tour while you enjoy a taste of our current release of Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc. Afterwards you will enter Honig’s exclusive Reserve Room, overlooking their Rutherford vineyard with spectacular views of the Valley and the Mayacamas mountain range, to enjoy a seated tasting of their single vineyard, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 4 distinct Napa Valley AVAs – Rutherford, St. Helena, Oakville and Oak Knoll District. Their wines will be paired with culinary tastes to highlight their elegance and complexity, and while you enjoy the wines, pairing and hospitability you’ll learn about the families that grow the grapes for their single vineyard wines, the unique characteristics of each AVA, and why each vineyard was selected for their single vineyard program. (Limited to 12 participants)
SATURDAY, 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
This in-depth tasting features five of Elizabeth Spencer’s small production, vineyard-designated Cabernet Sauvignon produced from different Napa Valley sub-appellations. Discussion will be centered on the individual characteristics influenced by the micro-climate and terrain of each sub-appellation as expressed in each wine. In addition, this tasting features hand-selected artisan cheeses that pair well with the wines chosen. (Limited to 12 participants)
Enjoy a morning walk through Andy Beckstoffer’s famed Rutherford Georges III Vineyard. After exploring the vineyard and learning about the soil, the rootstock and the vines you’ll enjoy a tasting of Georges III Vineyard wines with the winemakers that are fortunate enough to source fruit from this amazing part of Rutherford. This seminar will truly immerse you in Rutherford Dust with those who know it best! (Limited to 16 participants)
Take your wine knowledge from enthusiast to expert with St. Supéry’s exciting exploration of the five classic red Bordeaux varietals while you experience and compare wines from their two Estate vineyards. Taste Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from their Rutherford Estate, and Malbec and Petit Verdot from their Dollarhide Estate in a guided tasting designed to engage each of your senses to heighten your tasting experience. Once you learn how to harness all five senses to aid in identifying the delicate differences in each varietal, they’ll treat you to specially paired small bites that will enhance the unique characteristics of each wine. (Limited to 12 participants)
Raymond Vineyards is offering a very special seminar experience, featuring a vertical tasting of 5 vintages of their District Collection Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, spanning a full decade! Seated in “The Rutherford Room”, surrounded by core samples of the different Napa Valley appellations, your host will guide you through a selection of these 100% cabernet sauvignon wines, beginning with the 2003 vintage, then progressing through 2006, 2008, 2010, and finishing with their current release, the 2013. (Limited to 12 participants. Quantities of the library wines for purchase are limited to 3 bottles per vintage, per guest.
